Clearly I've been lax in keeping Meg's blog up to date. And, as you might assume, there's been lots going on in Meg's life over the last six months. Perhaps the biggest -- she's given up diapers. Megan is, for all intensive purposes, potty-trained. As with her brother, Meg's big motivation as getting ot preschool. She took a tour of the school one day and the next week she declared herself through with Pampers. The very first day we dropped Logan off at school with an underwear clad Megan Rose she hung her coat up on a peg and informed me she was staying. Removing her from the room wasn't easy.
Meg is a head-strong little girl that seems to embody all the things people say about "Terrible twos" AND red-heads. She's also a sweet girl that loves to hug and cuddle. She's a nurturing soul that is just as likely to bop her brother over the head as she is to kiss it better after doing so.
She's been taking a new 'mom-and-me' class at the local Baby-Power-Forever-Kids place. She loves it. Lots of singing and gymnastics to go with arts-and-crafts time. Megan is destined for dance classes or gymnastics. She loves to move and tumble with a confidence I didnt' expect from a two year old. She loves to sing - often it's her alphabet but she'll sing whatever she's in the mood for at any given time even if it's something she's invented on her own.
Currently her most favorite play thing is Thomas the Tank Engine and all his friends. She can whittle away an entire day at the train table making up stories for her trains. She's quite creative with it too - not to mention quite demanding that everyone else join her in the fun.
Megan is vocal - not just about her wants and needs but her vocabulary itself. She's proven to have a sharp inquisitive mind and the ability to share what's in there with the rest of us. She has a fantastic sense of humor and delights in teasing anyone in her path. She's a girly-girl that embraces her inner tom-boy -- climbing and leaping in her princess dresses and dress-up-high-heels.

15 years too early
I told Megan that we had to leave to pick Logan up from his youth group program at our church. She was resistant to leaving. She had plans to play Thomas. I made it clear this was not negotiable. She thought about it and then nodded.
“Ok. I’ll drive, you sit in the passenger seat,” she said and headed off to find the car keys.
“Ahh, Meg, you can’t drive,” I said because sometimes you have to state the obvious to a two year old on a mission.
“Why?” she asked.
“Well for starters,” I told her, thinking I had a good angle, “You’re still wearing your diapers.”
You could see the little mental shrug. “Ok. I’m going to use the potty ALL. The. Time.”
For the record when I got her strapped in her car seat and stuck the keys in the ignition myself she cried and cried and cried, “I was going to drive! Bad mommy! I’m going to use the potty all the time and drive!” (And, as a matter of fact, she’s in the bathtub as I type this telling Bruce all about it – I wanted to drive the car and I tell mommy I will use the potty but she still say no!”)
